51 sweet dark chocolate poems
Cacáhuatl is a book of poetry, poetry inspired by the different chocolates by Lluís Riera Callís, author of the poems, a fifth-generation pastry chef who specializes in chocolate. Politically committed, poetically spelled, rhapsodist and writer.
The photographs of Cacáhuatl are by Pol Vila i Ollé, that participates in the artistic-political movement (photoprotest), and stands out for working on the photographic work as a set of images that transcends individuality. In this project we work together looking to capture those most unpublished aspects of the author’s profession, as well as textures and landscapes represented in the poems.
The book’s cover design, as well as the main typography of the headlines, takes as its reference the original Mayan and Aztec designs. For the editorial layout, we work from the free composition of poetry playing with the background image, which seeks to reinforce the message of the poem and at the same time add layers of meaning.
